香濤林是一片保存完好的原始生態(tài)林，以晚清中興四大名臣之一、洋務運動代表人物張之洞的別號“香濤”而命名。1907年，張之洞創(chuàng)辦“湖北商業(yè)中學堂”，此乃湖北經濟學院的前身之一。此林設有張之洞雕塑、勸學篇雕塑、張之洞書法石刻等景觀，一方面營造了良好的人文環(huán)境和學習氛圍；另一方面勉勵全校師生秉承張之洞“中學為體，西學為用”、“經世致用”等教育思想，奮發(fā)圖強，振興中華。
A pristine ecological haven, Xiangtao Forest is named after Zhang Zhidong (courtesy name Xiangtao), the late Qing politician and the founder of Hubei Commercial School (the precursor to Hubei University of Economics). It symbolizes the century-long legacy of education and the spirit of continuous innovation at the university—a place where nature and culture intertwine.
